Tyler's horrific assault on his first day back brought him to his lowest emotionally and made him feel the most powerless he had ever felt. Violence was still going unchecked, especially when it was committed by someone on the football or baseball team. And it actually seemed to help: after some time away, he returned to school in the finale much calmer.īut while Tyler may have changed, the problems at Liberty High had not. Tyler's anger eventually garnered the attention of the administration and the principal recommended that he undertake a program intended to help him manage it. His attempts at connecting to his fellow classmates always seemed to go awry and the athletes at school bothered him relentlessly. Constant harassment at school left him feeling isolated and powerless, a feeling he tried to assuage by shooting illegally-acquired guns in the nearby woods. Tyler's rage and unhappiness had been growing steadily since the first season. Was Tony going to bring Tyler home? Was he bringing him to Clay's house? The finale didn't provide any answers, unfortunately.

It's unclear where Tony was even taking Tyler. No one had any time to figure out what to do after that because the episode was about to end. It seemed the immediate plan was to defuse the situation and get Tyler away from the school lest he get into trouble for what he was about to do. In the final moments of the episode, after Clay successfully talked Tyler down and took the gun from him, Tyler jumped into Tony's car and driven away. That seems to be a question the show is leaving for a possible third season, which has yet to be announced. Clay was able to prevent a shooting, but what happens to Tyler on 13 Reasons Why now? Instead he decided to do something drastic: he drove up to the school dance with an assault rifle, intent on doing irreversible damage to the people who had hurt him.

After being brutally sexually assaulted at school, Tyler was left traumatized but felt unable to share what had happened with anyone. There’s also a teaser trailer for 13 Reasons Why season 3 you can check out below.Warning: spoilers ahead for Episode 13! In the final episode of 13 Reasons Why Season 2, Tyler was pushed to his breaking point. It also probably helps that the entire cast is made up of relative unknowns, though by season 3, I hope these kids are getting something of a pay bump, as Netflix clearly sees value in them. 13 Reasons Why also has the benefit of essentially being…a bunch of kids walking around a high school, as opposed to some of Netflix’s more high cost projects from Altered Carbon to The Crown.

While Netflix does tend to bring shows back more often than rival networks, considering it doesn’t care about viewership all that much, it must have faith in the series and it must see that it does have a loyal fanbase, even with the drama, or lack thereof, surrounding season 2.

I have read a number of rants from critics and fans alike about the decisions made in season 2, but I suppose I am going to have to just watch it for myself to fully make up my mind. Season 1 has an 80% from critics on RottenTomatoes while season 2 has a 28%. Partially because I just finished up a big move and didn’t have time, but also because I heard that…it wasn’t very good. Despite being a huge fan of season 1, I still have not watched season 2 yet.
